The Chairman of the Board - Good Stuff in Bad Times...

On our eighth wedding anniversary, my loving wife Sherry gave me a set of Frank Sinatra CDs that she purchased from her favorite, local second hand store for only $1.00. At the time, I was not all that impressed with the gift so I set the CD’s aside on our bookshelf to collect dust with the rest of the “treasures” and promptly forgot about them. This morning, while rushing to get the kids to school, I passed the bookshelf and absentmindedly snatched the Sinatra CDs from the shelf as I hustled the kids out the front door for our daily sprint across town to school.  I decided to plop the first Sinatra CD into the car stereo just for the fun of torturing my two young, captive passengers during the trip.

Although I am no stranger to Sinatra’s music and I admit to being a fan, it had been quite some time since I last listened to him. For some reason, when I listened this morning it was not Sinatra’s voice, the melodies, the skill of the musicians or the beauty of the arrangements that struck me, it was the lyrics. The lyrics were smothered with kindness, deep human feelings and sentiment that is scarcely heard in today’s music and is expressed far too infrequently in American entertainment and society in general. These words were communicating heartfelt, human emotions of deep longing, love, respect, caring and soaring optimism.

With my 17 year old son Allan beside me “riding shotgun” I spontaneously launched into my lecture mode, trying to make most of the moment with a fatherly surprise attack on my unsuspecting son.  What had instantly become so clear to me is the absurdity of the fact that although the majority of American youth today have a comparatively pampered life of ease and entitlement, the majority of their music grinds out a despicable dirge describing a dark and sinister world filled with pain, anger, anguish, abuse, disrespect, devalued human life, dishonesty, death and violence. It’s deeply troubling to me that our kids just “plug in” and readily accept the dreadful message which they describe as “cool.”

I explained to my son Allan that in Sinatra’s time, America and the world had just escaped the Great Depression, a decade of dire poverty only to be cast headlong into WWII, the darkest period of unparalleled destruction and human suffering ever experienced by mankind. By comparison, the America of today is truly a “land of plenty” where opportunities abound and personal suffering caused from poverty, war and inequity are virtually non-existent. Social programs and opportunities have for the most part created an American society that knows little of dire personal suffering or gut wrenching self sacrifice.

Why is it then that during the darkest most violent and truly horrific time in human history did the songwriters, musicians, entertainers strive to inspire with words that uplift and communicate the truly great things about the human experience while today’s popular music spews this ceaseless cacophony of disturbing bile?

Being a student of American history and culture I have observed the irony that as man, technology and society in general continually progress we have tendency to forget the past. With each achievement we begin to believe that man is becoming all powerful. In our hubris we begin to allow God to disappear from our conscience and our daily lives. The irony is that as we devalue God and separate ourselves from him we also devalue human life. As we spiral down as a society we lose our self esteem. This societal loss of self esteem then becomes reflected in our expression of the human experience through music and art.

During Sinatra’s time, Americans valued God and as a result they valued each other. Because of this, their art and music communicated their higher aspirations and provided confirmation that we were indeed valued. Perhaps someday, we will be wise enough to come back to God and value each other and restore our collective self esteem.

Clinton lied and more died...

What??? It's totally weird but it's true. Here's another truth that your friendly liberal media is desperately trying to keep under wraps. A suspiciously little known fact is, more U.S. military personnel died during the Clinton Presidency in peacetime than have died during the entire Iraq war. This fact makes the intentions of the left wing media even more blatantly transparent.

The total military dead in the Iraq war between 2003 and this month (February 2007) stands at about 3,133. This is tragic, as are all deaths due to war, and we are facing a cowardly enemy unlike any other in our past that hides behind innocent citizens. Each death is blazoned in the headlines of newspapers and Internet sites. What is never compared is the number of military deaths during the (first term) Clinton administration: 1,245 in 1993; 1,109 in 1994; 1,055 in 1995; 1,008 in 1996. That's 4,417 deaths in peacetime but, of course, who's counting?

The Chickens Have Come To Roost

Thanks to the Democratic Party's incessant defeatist whining and the liberal media's never ending, totally biased, negative reporting of the Iraq War, the American people showed their impatience and dissatisfaction with the progress in Iraq by voting for Democrats in the midterm election. Now, the "chickens" have indeed "come to roost." With the liberal chickens in control of the House and Senate, be prepared for upcoming tax hikes, increased spending on social programs, cuts in military funding and  retreat from Iraq.

Some Folks have Seriously Short Memories...

Some folks  certainly have seriously short memories. Check out the video below to see just what I mean!

Liberals accuse President Bush of having a meager intellect. Apparently they can't even remember their own statements!

Your vote can make America safer...
With the 2006 mid-term elections drawing near, I would like to strongly urge everyone who truly cares about the future of our kids and our country to cast a vote for National Security. Be logical and put aside the partisan bickering and vote to keep America safe. Temporarily put aside all of the non-essential issues like abortion rights,  right to life, stem cell research, labor union issues, big oil, welfare, racial quotas, racial profiling, Guantanamo, national healthcare, gay rights and everything else on the list. Before voting, take a deep breath, sit down and consider what your life would be like under Islamo-fascist rule. Then think about your friends, family and community. Focus your mind and back candidates from the party that truly cares about the future of a safe and secure America. We are absolutely engaged in a crucial battle to protect our freedom and our way of life. Put aside your pet issue and vote for security and freedom. Vote Republican.

Reasons Why....

The New York Crimes

Seriously folks, what does it take to get through to these liberals at the New York Times? Common sense would dictate that if two jumbo jets slam into buildings located in your city killing nearly 3,000 innocent people, one might be concerned about stopping further terrorist attacks. It's obvious to me that the New York Times and other Liberals hate George Bush far more than they hate Terrorists. These people are so blinded by their hatred of President Bush they willingly commit treason.

U.S. Casualties In Perspective

U.S. casualties from Iraq and Afghanistan - A historic perspective.

Since the War on Terror began in 2001, the Liberal media has decried the extensive losses of our young soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Although these losses should be recognized and mourned, it should be noted that compared to other wars and even daily life in the U.S. the number of U.S. war casualties remains comparatively low. Click the chart above for details. I feel that the relatively low number of U.S. casualties is a testament to a well planned war strategy conceived by the Bush Administration and prosecuted by the U.S. Military.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi Killed in Bombing Raid

For the first time in my life I was actually elated to hear of the demise of another human. Pictured above is the face of evil. If anyone in current times has deserved to die, it was Zarqawi. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq. Zarqawi led a brutal insurgency that included a multitude of homicide bombings, kidnappings and gruesome beheadings of innocent civilians. Goodbye and good riddance. Have fun in Hell buddy.

Ding Dong! Zarqawi's dead.

We dropped a bomb upon his head!

Ding Dong! the Mother-Fu#$ker's Dead!

UAE Port Deal Scuttled By Election Year Politics

For once, even I don't know what to say about an issue. I find arguments on both sides of the issue to have some merit. I feel that If the UAE Business passes sufficient security checks that the proposed deal would not threaten our port security and would probably improve relations with Middle East countries in general. The image above is illustrates the worries of the uninformed.
